Macmillan Cakeaway 2020

Raised for Macmillan Cancer Charity

On Friday the 25th September, we hosted our Macmillan cakeaway for the second year running. This year we started off by making our batches of cakes, so’s not to run out again, 265 pieces to be exact! We all had fun making these and knowing it was for a great charity made it so worthwhile.

Obviously we have an additional battle on our hands this year with all the change that COVID19 has caused. We weren’t sure how the day would go and if anyone would be willing to partake, but 6 of our fabulous clients were happy to have a cake break while at work.

In order to make our cakeaway even more safe, we pre-packaged every piece of cake. This meant it was easy for our customers to pick and choose what they would like with less contact. We also all wore our PPE to make sure everyone felt comfortable and safe.

Our first stop was D&M Design and Fabrication, we had been to this company previously and the staff are always so generous. They all came out for their 10am cake break to lift that Friday feeling. The wind was picking up at this point and we had to hold down our bakes & balloons to make sure we didn’t lose any.

Next we visited A-One Feed Supplements Ltd. Again we had been previously with our cake away stall and the staff did not disappoint us with their incredible donations. It was so nice see people back at work and wanting to support Macmillan with us. A lot of cake was sold at this point so a quick rearrange & top up was needed.

Our final stop was to Berwins Solicitors. On an extra special day, as they had a birthday in the building. They had let us know before hand so we made up a cake hamper for the office to share, which went down very well! Everyone looked very pleased and they supported Macmillan for their birthday celebration.

We also did a drop off service for some of our clients. This was a hamper filled with a variety of our home made cakes and dropped on their doorstep. We delivered these to Top of the Range, Bishopton Veterinary Group LLP and Aaztec Associates Ltd. They all gave us a donation to put in our pot for Macmillan, which we are so grateful for and we hope they all enjoyed their cakes!

We didn’t stop cash donations this year but also had a link & QR code for easy use. We had the QR code on every piece of cake so people could donate easily if they didn’t have any cash or took it home. This worked well and we received plenty of donations through this.

Our final total amount raised was £329.18

We are over the moon with the amount we have raised and want to say a big thank you to all the support off our customers!
